The Belmont Dairy Rowhouse project demonstrates that with thoughtful and inspired design, higher-densities can be achieved without compromising livability. Located adjacent to the award-winning Belmont Dairy mixed-use project, the 30 rowhouses are another regional model for high-quality, in-fill development. The project features pedestrian-oriented streetscapes characterized by front porches, bay windows and landscaped garden spaces, with garages tucked away in private alleys. The scale and design of the project respects the character of the old, single-family neighborhood that surrounds it. There are four different floor plans that range from 1,300 to 1,700 SF. All the homes have open and spacious layouts, and offer two bedrooms, two baths, 9-foot ceilings (generous 12-foot ceilings in the master bedroom) and expansive windows. The zoning allows business use by right, so many of the units have ground floor space designed for office use, or extra garage space that can be converted. It is the quality of craftsmanship and the attraction of this casual and eclectic southeast neighborhood that has lured the empty nesters out of the suburbs and incited the young professionals to begin building equity.

The Rowhouse project followed on the success of the first phase of the Belmont Dairy, receiving an Ahwanee Award and a second Governor's Livability Award in 1999.
